It was exactly 269 days ago when Liverpool and Real Madrid met in the Champions League final. They were, by definition, the two best teams in Europe at that point. Nearly nine months later, none of the two is at a high. The Spanish Champions are⊠perfectly mediocre (for their standards at least), while the Reds are seriously struggling. With the two teams meeting in Northeastern Egland, what is my Liverpool vs Real Madrid prediction? Well, read on to find out.
And it is not just the game of Liverpool vs Real Madrid. in Germany, Frankfurt host Napoli. But, we will get there. First things first.
So, is it really a curse? Jurgen Kloppâs stints at his clubs are like⊠marriages. The seventh year is always the hardest. After six great seasons at Mainz, he had a rather bad seventh and left the club. After six great seasons at Borussia Dortmund, he had a horrific seventh year and left the club. And imagine what his seventh year at Liverpool feels like, after six years during which he was the absolute king in the North?
His Liverpool are 8th in the Premier League standings, 19 points behind Arsenal. Yes, their latest win against high-flying Newcastle was important but is it enough to turn things around?
As for Madrid, the La Liga season is certainly not ideal, but it is far from being a disaster. As a matter of fact, it is more of a perfect season for Barcelona (when it comes to their league results, at least) than a failure for Madrid.
Where the two teams met a couple of weeks ago, I would go the Madrid way. But I donât know which version of the two opponents we will see in this Liverpool vs Real Madrid match. The one thing I expect is that both Jurgen Klopp and Carlo Ancelotti will be cautious. The two defences have been often been exposed during the season but they have shown significant improvement as of late.
The two managers know there is a second leg coming on and wonât necessarily have to win today. I love the high odds of the Under 2.5 goals option.
Eintracht Frankfurt is a good team. One of the most fun-to-watch clubs in Europe. After missing that late chance in the World Cup final (that would have probably given France the trophy), Randal Kolo Muani is on fire. He scores when he wants and is the key reason why his team has turned things around as of late.
But if Frankfurt is fun to watch, then Napoli is the team that when it plays you have to clear your schedule to watch the game. If the Champions League Final was now, I would certainly put my money in Napoli to win it. The way the Partenopei play is dominant. If they play at 80% of their ability, there is nobody to beat them right now.
The duo of Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia has taken Italy by storm and they will bring the city of Napoli its first Scudetto after the Maradona era. The very fact that the Southerners have all but clinched the title in Italy gives them the opportunity to play their best XI in the Champions League and rest them at weekends. I believe that if they perform the way they know, they will win tonight.
