Jurgen Klopp has signed a contract extension with Liverpool and he will stay at the club until 2026. The German manager took charge in October 2015 and has already 373 matches on the bench. In the past month, he surpassed George Patterson (366 matches between 1928 and 1936), George Kay (357 matches between 1936 and 1951) and of course Rafa Benitez (350 matches between 2004 and 2010).

Now, he is on the… hunt for Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley who had 783 and 535 games respectively, chasing the top of the list with the most matches as Liverpool’s manager! Before that, he is going to try and win a quadrable for the Reds, having won the Carabao Cup and being in the battle for the Premier League title, the Champions League trophy and the FA Cup Final (versus Chelsea on the 14th of May).

Moreover, he is the one who transformed Liverpool FC, creating an unstoppable football machine. However, it was a long run, with setbacks and a couple of disappointing moments. Jurgen Klopp took charge in October 2015 and waited almost three years, in order to celebrate a trophy. But, it was the big one, winning the Champions League final against Tottenham in Madrid. In the meantime, they lost a Europa League Final (against Sevilla in 2016) and a Champions League Final (against Real Madrid in 2018).

Above all the achievements, was the return of the Reds to the top of the Premier League, winning the trophy in 2020, and losing one, although they gathered 97 points!

The most significant achievement

Jurgen Klopp, not only helped Liverpool’s return, filling the trophy cabinet with more major trophies, but he created a team, that is considered to be the best in Europe. Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino created an explosive trio in the offence; however, Klopp’s vision went beyond this. He is still counting on them, but have already created their successors in the faces of Diogo Jota and Luis Dias.

When he spent 70 million pounds to purchase, Virgil Van Dijk, he was one of the few that have already seen the quality and the leadership of the Dutch central defender. Moreover, it was Klopp’s work that exploit the talent of Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander Arnold, creating the most dangerous wing back duo in modern football!

His true contribution is still his vision, creating now the new stars of Liverpool, searching across the globe for the perfect fit and the fact that the Reds play their own, signature style of play, gaining new fans who don’t want to “Walk Alone”.
