Manchester City of 2022/23 have the chance to be remembered as one of the most dominant teams in the history of European football. Just like their neighbours, Manchester United in 1998/99 (when City pulled off a miracle to be promoted back to Division 1 – what we know today as the English Championship), Guardiola’s Cityzens can win the Treble: the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the Champions League. City are the absolute favourites in all three competitions but have to be flawless to do it and host a majestic parade in Manchester.
Manchester City are fighting for three major trophies this season. They have to win all three in order to be regarded as one of the greatest teams in football history.
Only seven clubs have managed to pull it off. Bayern and Barcelona have done it twice (the first time the Catalan giants did it was under Pep Guardiola), while Celtic, Ajax, PSV Eindhoven, Inter, and Manchester United have done it once.
Let’s see City’s odds to win each one of the three trophies needed to complete the historic treble.
After beating their main league rivals Arsenal 4-1, playing once again dominant football, City are two points behind the Gunners in the Premier League standings. They are, however, the overwhelming favourites. Not only because they are in a better form, not only because they have an easier schedule, but even those two points are somewhat plasmatic, as City have two games in hand.
City are valued at 1/14 to win the League.
If there is one team that wants to break City’s chances for the Treble, that is Manchester United. Fate brought the two Mancunian clubs facing each other in the first-ever all-Manchester FA Cup Final.
The Blues are 3/10 favourites to win the trophy in Wembley, on the 3rd of June. United are offered at 12/5.
Now this is the big one. Manchester City have won the Premier League. They have won the FA Cup. But the Champions League is the club’s Holy Grail. The White Whale.
They are the favourites to win this one too, valued at 7/10. But in order to do so, they will first have to knock off the title holders, Real Madrid, the most successful team in the history of the competition. They are 7/20 favourites to qualify to the Final and face one of the Milan teams in Istanbul.
