The most attractive free agents on the market have already agreed terms with their next clubs. Karim Benzema moved to Saudi Arabia, Marco Asensio and Milan Skriniar are about to be signed by PSG, Raphael Guerreiro is going to Bayern, and the list goes on. As for others, like David De Gea and Toni Kroos, there was no drama, as they decided to extend their contracts with Manchester United and Real Madrid respectively.

But there are many free agents who haven’t yet found their next club. Let’s see the ten most fought-after out-of-contract players of 2023.

10. Marcus Thuram

Age: 25
Team: Gladbach
Position: Forward
Interested Clubs: PSG, AC Milan, Roma

Thuram joined Gladbach in 2019 and in four years he scored 44 goals in all competitions, establishing himself as a French international. He leaves Borussia and will likely find himself playing for one of Europe’s biggest clubs this coming season. PSG are offered at 8/13 to land him and are overwhelming favourites.

9. Wilfried Zaha

ZAHA transfer

Age: 30
Team: Crystal Palace
Position: Winger
Interested Clubs: PSG, Al-Nassr, Arsenal, Fenerbahce

In 2014 Wilfried Zaha returned to his boyhood club, Crystal Palace. He has scored 81 Premier League goals, after leaving Manchester United as a flop, but now, as he has already turned 30, he wants to either win some silverware or sign a last big contract. PSG are once again the overwhelming favourites to sign him, at 8/11.

8. Adrien Rabiot

Age: 28
Team: Juventus
Position: Midfielder
Interested Clubs: Chelsea, Spurs

A six-time French Champion, once a Champion of Italy, and one of the best players in the World Cup, last December, Adrien Rabiot is looking for a new club. Chelsea are the most likely candidates to land the Frenchman.

7. Eden Hazard

Age: 32
Team: Real Madrid
Position: Winger
Interested Clubs: CF Montreal, Vancouver Whitecaps, Fenerbahce

Four years ago, Eden Hazard’s name was mentioned among the world’s greatest footballers. After four pretty catastrophic seasons at Madrid, the Belgian winger mutually terminated his contract with Real and he is on the look for his next club. Last summer, it was Arsenal and Newcastle who were interested in him. This time around, it seems like his destination will be Canada.

6. Sergio Ramos

Age: 37
Team: Paris Saint-Germain
Position: Centre-back
Interested Clubs: Al-Ahli, Al-Ittihad, Al-Hilal, Sevilla

Four Champions League titles, three as a captain. Seven league titles. A World Cup and two Euro Championships. Sergio Ramos has had quite a career. Will he now go to Saudi Arabia for one last contract, or will he go back to his boyhood club, Sevilla, as he is one of the few players who have played for the club in the past 20 years but have not won the Europa League.

5. Edin Dzeko

Age: 37
Team: Inter Milan
Position: Striker
Interested Clubs: Fenerbahce, West Ham, Al-Hilal

Edin Dzeko is easily one of the most underrated football stars of the last decade. His goals were crucial for Wolfsburg to win one of the most unlikely Bundesliga titles of all time, as well as for Man City to break a 44-year curse. He is now closely monitored by Saudi clubs, as well as Fenerbahce.

4. Sergio Busquets

Age: 34
Team: Barcelona
Position: Central Midfielder
Interested Clubs: Inter Miami, Al-Nassr

Inter Miami already added Barcelona’s all-time leading player in assists to their roster. They now want to pair him with the third down the list, Sergio Busquets. David Beckham’s Inter might end up pairing Messi with some of his favourite teammates ever, such as Busquets, Jordi Alba, Luis Suarez and Angel Di Maria. Speaking of which…

3. Angel Di Maria

Age: 35
Team: Juventus
Position: Winger
Interested Clubs: Inter Miami, Benfica, Al-Nassr

After a season at Juventus, Angel Di Maria is in front of a cross-path. Either he will join his pal, Lionel Messi, at Inter Miami, or he will return to his first club in Europe, Benfica. The Floridian club is offered at 13/8, while the Champions of Portugal are at 11/5.

2. Roberto Firmino

Bobby Firmino

Age: 31
Team: Liverpool
Position: Forward
Interested Clubs: Barcelona, Real Madrid, Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad

Roberto Firmino is adored by Liverpool fans and will always be remembered as a club legend. That being said, it was pretty obvious that he was no longer in Jurgen Klopp’s plans for next season. He has a plethora of options. First it was Napoli that approached him, but right now the possibility of him joining any Saudi club is the 6/5 favourite, followed by Barcelona and Real Madrid.

1. Ilkay Gundogan

Age: 32
Team: Manchester City
Position: Midfielder
Interested Clubs: Barcelona, Real Madrid, Arsenal

Ilkay Gundogan just lifted three major trophies as Manchester City’s captain. The club wants to keep him, but with Mateo Kovacic close to signing for the Cityzens, Gundogan is unsure if he will have enough playing time. This is how Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Arsenal want to lure him.
