World Cup Predictions: A clash of cultures

World Cup Predictions

What a day was that yesterday! We had our traditional giant killing, as Japan came from behind to beat Germany, we had a 0-0 draw, between Morocco and Croatia, and we had an absolutely dominant Spain dismantling poor Costa Rica 7-0. So what will we see today? Here we go with the World Cup Predictions for Thursday 24 November.

World Cup Predictions (24 November)

The World Cup started with a bang. Or multiple bangs to be exact. I am pretty satisfied with my World Cup betting predictions for yesterday. The only thing I did not foresee was how weak this Costa Rica team is. I expected them to be a bit more threatening. They weren’t, to put it mildly. Let’s see today’s games. But first, check the best signup offers today.

Switzerland vs Cameroon Prediction

Pop quiz: Out of the 55 European national teams that entered the World Cup qualifiers, which one conceded the fewest goals? You are cheating. Of course, it is Switzerland, as I posted this question in this section. But did you know it? Did you expect it?

Switzerland is a very interesting team. They were amazing in last season’s Euro Championship. Vladimir Petkovic left the Swiss bench, but Murat Yakin uses the same system and the same tactics, offering the squad some continuity. The players’ core he uses is the same, and the only notable absentees are Zuber and Mbabu. But they are both replaceable. The irreplaceable ones, Xhaka and Shaqiri, are there and they are in top form.

Cameroon is under a lot of pressure, after what Samuel Eto’o said. He recently stated that anything but a Final appearance will be regarded as a failure. Really, Sami? What was your best moment at the World Cup? One win and one draw in 9 games and three group stage exits. Sounds about right.

I’m backing the best team in this Switzerland vs Cameroon game.

Uruguay vs South Korea Prediction

One of my boldest World Cup predictions is Uruguay to reach the semi-finals. It will not be easy and the journey begins here. With Uruguay vs South Korea. What makes the Celeste so intriguing as a team is the mix of youth (Valverde, Araujo, Betancur, Nunez) and experience (Godin, Cavani, Suarez).

South Korea is the most successful Asian team in the history of the World Cup. They have one of the most explosive footballers in world football in Son Heung-min, but I believe so much in this Uruguay team, that I cannot look past them.

Portugal vs Ghana Prediction

World Cup Predictions have proven to be a tricky task in this tournament. I would be willing to back the favourite in Portugal vs Ghana. But we don’t yet know which Portugal we are going to see. The team looked amazing in the friendly against Switzerland, when Cristiano Ronaldo was absent. How will the inclusion of the biggest European footballing star affect the chemistry of that team? Will his off-the-pitch drama get in the way? Until all those are answered, my decision is no bet.

Brazil vs Serbia Prediction

Brazil’s roster is superb. They have so many world-class players at every position that it sometimes feels unfair. But Serbia won’t be pushovers.

Especially in the attacking department, Serbia is just too good. I expect both teams to have chances and I am betting on both of them scoring in this Brazil vs Serbia match, the one that wraps up the first third of the Group Stage.
